Whether you’re looking for a place to sun yourself, hide from the rain or huddle around a heater – Melbourne has a roof top bar ready and waiting for you, no matter what it’s unpredictable weather is doing. Here are 5 of the best:
How catchy is that name? Don’t worry though, you’re allowed to wear clothes, in fact it is encouraged, and by encouraged I mean necessary by law. Naked in the Sky is the roof top bar of the uber trendy Fitzroy institution, Naked for Satan. Set high above most other buildings, it has uninterrupted views of the city, it is the perfect for some sundowners before bar hopping around the area at night time.
285 Brunswick St, Fitzroy VIC 3065
Siglo perfectly sums up Melbourne to me – it is sophisticated, understated and a little bit edgy. The BEST part about Siglo is that you can visit the rooftop any time of the year. Half of it is undercover and there are plenty of heaters to huddle around for when the temperature drops in winter.
2/161 Spring St, Melbourne VIC 3000
Inspired by retro tennis era of Bjørn Bjorg, Madam Brussels is a little pop of colour on the CBD skyline with bright green astro turf and pops of pink seats throughout. Cocktails can be ordered by the jug, who can go past a drink called “The GingeMinge” or “Love Juice”? This place is a rowdy garden party in the sky.
59 Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000
What is better than a roof top bar? A roof top bar by the ocean. Case in point, Captain Baxter. Spacious, airy and laid back, Captain Baxter is the ultimate destination for when the city is blessed with some sunshine. The Baxter Breakfast cocktail is a refreshing thirty quencher served in over crushed ice in a mug (mugs, they are so hot right now!). It is made with grilled grapefruit (my favourite fruit at the moment), vodka, OJ and spiced syrup. The breakfast of champions!
St Kilda Sea Baths, 10-18 Jacka Boulevard, St Kilda
