This little gem on Bondi Road is unassuming from the outside, but inside you will find a cosy, dimly lit oasis perfect for couples and small groups. The Middle Eastern meze-style menu changes seasonally but their heavenly haloumi lathered in honey and topped with zaatar ($14) is available year-round and is a must-order. Others not to be missed are the slow cooked lamb with prune sauce ($36) and seared tuna teamed with giant couscous ($18), which will only feature on the menu if the produce is in season. Sefa is incredibly popular so I suggest you book well in advance if you want to have dinner. Breakfast is a little more low key and easier to snag a seat and best of all, they serve it all day long. Perched on busy Bondi Road, it perfect for settling in with a paper, Turkish coffee and some poached eggs lathered in garlic yoghurt.

The bitter: you always have to book ahead

The sweet: that haloumi!

The damage: a dinner for two with wine will cost about $150

Oink oink,

Truffle Pig
